Observation notes: Morning Hike on Turkey Flats and Ridge Trail, Pinyon Mesa, Colorado, SW of Grand Junction, CO. Bright warm morning at about 9,000' elevation, mixture of aspen, spruce forest with open glades and fall wildflowers.

Coordinator notes: Yes your ID as the Hesperis or Northwestern Fritillary is correct. This is a female. It's tough but try to get underside shots of these if you can. They are much easier to identify although I can recognize most from upperside photos but some different ones look quite closely the same. Mike
