Observation notes: Not sure about specific details however when I found the caterpillar it was crawling across our rock driveway.. as far as plants that are nearby.. we have grass, there are pine trees and we have a magnolia tree nearby.. just not sure what the little guy is going to be.. the kids would sure like to know.. I'm sorry I'm just not too familiar with caterpillars but it is interesting to find out.. thank you...

Coordinator notes: The caterpillar host plant in the southeast is often pentas, a commonly planted flower. This caterpillar was probably wandering looking for a place to pupate in the soil. It will emerge in the spring as a moth.
