Observation notes: Two new Gulf Fritillary butterflies (Agraulis vanillae) drying their wings were observed on a fence near Passion vine. There was a gentle morning breeze and filtered sunlight at the time the photo was taken. This species has been returning every year for about 40 years at a Whittier residence.
