Our summer fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. If everyone who uses this resource makes a donation, we could cover our ongoing costs, develop new features, upgrade the system, and maybe even remove those pesky ads. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to show your support for this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Observation notes: The weather had been very hot (80+) for weeks and it was probably 70+ that day. no rain, no wind, no clouds, very sunny, we were just driving along an old logging road and saw several butterflies (mostly fritillaries, crescents and checkerspots) crossing the road. we got out and walked along side of road and this butterfly flew out and landed in the road. most of the time it had its wings folded. this was the only sighting of this butterfly for that entire day.
