Observation notes: At least 6 of these caterpillars were observed by myself and Nancy Garden on the Appalachian Trail. At least one caterpillar was actively feeding. We think this small shrub is in the blueberry family. The weather was 98% sunny and temperatures were nearing 70 deg. F. with little wind.
