Observation notes: Painted Ladies are so funny; they seem to love the limelight. This one plopped down on the dirt right smack in front of me while I was walking my dog, as if to say, "Hey, aren't you going to take MY picture, too?" So, even though I had many photos of Painted Ladies this summer, I took a quick photo of this one, too, then it happily flew off. Size: Approx. 1.25–1.5" from belly to top of wingtip. Weather: 90 degrees and VERY HUMID.
