Observation date: August 20, 2017
Submitted by: WINGSaloftinKS
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I *believe* (?) this is a Viceroy Caterpillar that my coworkers found and showed me from the garden center we work at. Found on an Aspen tree stem. Approx. size: 1.5–1.75" (completely stretched out) Weather: 90 degrees
Status: Resident
Verified by: stomlins701
Verified date: October 01, 2017
Coordinator notes: The spikes on the humps look significant, so I believe this is a Viceroy, Red-spotted Purple caterpillars look nearly identical but the spikes on the humps are usually greatly reduced/absent
