Observation notes: Extremely hot, 90 degree day, in September, this guy was crawling up rocks to my herb garden by the back door. About 12 ft. from the walnut tree.
We have never seen a caterpillar this large , about 5' x 1" d.
After research and identification, we placed it under the walnut tree .
