Date notes: We've been under a dry spell, for a week or more, unusual for this time of year. Temps have been 14 to 20˚ above normal.

Observation notes: Very hot, & humid on this mid September day. Not a cloud in the sky. The sun is blistering, but a Painted Lady has found the butterfly bush by the shed. Showing no wear or tear, or scars from the season, I can presume it is newly eclosed. Eagerly feeding from the butterfly bush grown as a specimen in the open. Flitting from panicle to panicle. Flying away, spooked by my close presence, but returning quickly to feed some more. I spent about 20 minutes photographing, then left it to feed in peace.
