Pink-spotted hawkmoth
Agrius cingulata

Observation date: September 05, 2017

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moth/butterfly was on our front door screen for several days with wings closed. Then this morning the wings were open. And sadly, later in the day the moth dropped off the screen and appeared dead. The weather over the past few days has been in the 60s in the AM with highs in the 70s to 80s later in the day. The screen door faces east and is in a protected alcove that can get quite warm as the sun rises. I'd love to know what type of moth or butterfly. Thanks
