Observation notes: I'm not sure what the host plant is because it just appeared in my garden one day. It appears to me to be in the Hollyhock family with small purple veined flowers. I also saw signs of the caterpillars having been in a couple of thistle plants farther down my garden. There was lots of big poop and it has been pretty hot lately. I never saw it moving.
