Observation notes: Found this beauty trying to fly out of my garage in very hot and humid Georgia weather. I had it walk onto my hand and took it through our home to the backyard. The butterfly seemed calm and curious - extending and retracting its proboscis and slightly flapping its wings but never attempting to fly. We took a lot of pictures of it and my kids observed it with awe. It even walked onto my 5yo hands and back on mine. The butterfly stayed with us without flying off for about 15 minutes even though we were outside. The brownish reddish spots on the underside of the wings are so beautiful and different from the top side of the forewings and hindwings. All in all best experience I've ever had with a butterfly. So close and personal to us. It finally flew away when my husband held it for another 5-10 seconds.
