Corn Earworm Moth
Helicoverpa zea

Observation date: August 21, 2017
Date notes: Found just after the eclipse. We had 91% coverage of the sun.
Submitted by: Barbara S.
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moth was found in downtown Cincinnati on a very busy sidewalk 60 minutes after the eclipse. He was still until I tried moving him. He seemed healthy but perhaps confused by the eclipse? There are 2 large live bamboo potted plants within 10 feet of where he was foundso I moved him there after photo. It's a very urban area completely paved that is 8 city blocks from the Ohio river.
