Oedemasia concinna

Observation date: August 12, 2017
Submitted by: Nymphrodell
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Specimen was 1 in/1 1/2 in in length. All true legs are located before the red segment. On the top of this segment, there are two spines (each having a single, thin hair extending from the tip) which will close together if the caterpillar is disturbed. Other than this, the caterpillar shows no other defensive mechanisms. The temperature was around 80F and the sky was overcast. There was a gentile rain the previous night. The caterpillar was found on a netted highbush blueberry bush.
