Observation date: July 29, 2017
Date notes: Found only a few minutes after a Unicorn Prominent Caterpillar
Submitted by: Exo514
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: An odd caterpillar specimen found on the same crab apple tree as a Unicorn Prominent. It was about the same length but thinner. Several reddish lumps were on the back with long hairs sticking out and a dark brown line in the middle. Some white around the lumps closest to the thorax. The head was covered in many lines. It was found in a resting pose similar to that of a prominent caterpillar right in the middle of a branch. When I moved the branch to get a closer look at the specimen, it began to move around. Temperature was around 70 Fahrenheit with low humidity and rather significant breezes.
