Abbott's sphinx
Sphecodina abbottii

Observation date: July 25, 2017
Date notes: Was found July 24, 2017 at about 1:00pm
Submitted by: Orange_Holiday
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found in an area with no plants, wood walls and concrete floor. Upon aggravation two different behaviors can occur; squeaking while wiping its head around aggressively, or it curls up and puts it snake-like butt in the air. As it was found by no host plants, it was given leaves it possibly likes. Birch leaves are the best candidate for now. Caterpillar does not like oak or grapevine leaves. About 3 inches long.
