Observation notes: Sunny 70 degree morning in Blue Ridge Mountains in Highlands, North Carolina. Altitude is 4,118 feet and this plateau is a high altitude rain forest. Moth was on the outside glass door of our deck. It's lower wings were slightly tattered and missing the left antenna, but otherwise in a beautiful state. I took 5 photos and watched the moth for about 5 minutes and then it unhurriedly flew over the iron railing into the dense woods.
