Interrupted Dagger Moth
Acronicta interrupta

Observation date: July 16, 2017
Submitted by: klondon88
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: My daughter and I found this little guy stuck in the trash can on our front patio. Not sure what he eats, we took a clipping off our front bush in the hopes of saving him. He doesn't appear to be eating it, but he's definitely looking better than yesterday. We're in Colorado, it's been rainy for the last couple days but was about 95 deg and dry yesterday.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Nice job correctly identifying this caterpillar. Although BAMONA only has one western record of this species, the Moth Photographers Group shows records from the Colorado front range. Wikipedia has a list of host plants for this species, though it eats just about anything.
