Observation notes: I found this cocoon late winter hanging from the bare persimmon tree. It has been a mystery cocoon, which I checked every day since spring. An exit hole developed about a month ago, so I thought I missed the moth. Today, it was there. I found the cocoon illustrated in Covell to verify the id.
