Virginia creeper sphinx
Darapsa myron

Observation date: June 14, 2017
Submitted by: Brewny
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moth was on the side of the house, almost perfectly blending in. It clung to my finger with a very tight grip. I carried it around and only once did it move, when the wind "ruffled" its wings. I placed it right back where I found it after using my iPhone to take photos. There are gardens all around where it was resting- flowering hostas, lily of the valley, mock orange, begonias, roses, and pansies to name a few.
