Observation notes: morning. Dying/freshly dead (did wind blow it from tree and fell onto rocks or stepped on? attacked by bird?) on trail beneath Bald Cypress tree, still clasping cypress needle. Habitat: bottomland hardwood forest w/ some Bald Cypresses, lake and swampy areas nearby.
