Coordinator notes: See photos and description of Chestnut and Pale-Banded (Tulcis) Crescents in "A Swift Guide to Butterflies of North America", pp. 216-17. The cream-colored band on the hindwing and the pale spot along the forewing inner margin toward the wing base indicate A. tulcis. Chestnut Crescent band would be white and this spot missing. SAT
