Pink-spotted hawkmoth
Agrius cingulata

Observation date: October 22, 2016
Submitted by: taogirl
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: while weeding an area that had not been touched in three months I found this caterpillar clinging to a stick. I am not sure what it had been eating but it was a large one. However, I noticed that the American Pokeweed plants in the area were all bare of leaves.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: I don't see Pokeweed as a foodplant of this species, but morning glory which is often in overgrown areas, is one. SAT
