Leonard's Skipper
Hesperia leonardus

Observation date: September 18, 2013
Submitted by: Christian.Nunes
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Elevation 6,200 ft. Open meadows and Ponderosa Pine savanna with a nice understory of native grasses including Side-oats Gramma, Big and Little Bluestem, and blooming Liatris punctata. These heavily-marked individuals are likely females (one solo individual may be a male?)
Status: Resident
Verified by: mikefisher
Verified date: October 02, 2016
Coordinator notes: Top one could be a male, the two below are certainly females. You almost never find this skipper if Liatris is not available as a nectar source. Mike
