Observation notes: Mesic grassland habitat, top of a flat ridge. Well established population with over a dozen H.l. pawnee expected to be seen at the height of the early Sept flight. Most males are unmarked, some with faint HW spots that almost form a band. Females have more distinct pale spots. Blue Gramma is common, as are blooming Liatris.
