Achemon sphinx
Eumorpha achemon

Observation date: July 27, 2016
Submitted by: Barnbaked
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: About 80 degree, evening. calm, been hot for several weeks, no rain in a while. I found this on a young grape plant. It had eaten several leaves. There were mostly grape plants but a few flowers and near strawberry and sweet potato plants on other side of wire fence. It seems to be a bit darker than the photo, more black than brown. It reminds me of a tomato horn worm, but no horn and not green. and not on tomatoes which I have about 40 plants, and not worms on.
