White Furcula
Furcula borealis

Observation date: June 28, 2016
Submitted by: Exo514
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This caterpillar was found eating a leaf on a wild cherry tree. It reared up and extended its end filaments when I touched it. This caterpillar, when still, almost perfectly mimicked a dying end of a leaf. I took it home to raise, and a month later it had become an adult female White Furcula moth (it tried to lay unfertilized eggs inside its habitat). I released it the night it hatched, in mid-July 2016.
