Sandhill Skipper
Polites sabuleti

Observation date: September 05, 2015
Submitted by: Josiah Gilbert
Specimen type: Photograph
Collection location: Josiah Gilbert (personal collection)
Observation notes: Female. Collected in the lakebed, which is dry because of the drought. Male. A few. These tend to fly in a different type of vegetation in the lake bed than the field skippers. I found these on every trip I took to the lake from August 28th to October 20th. I probably overlooked them on my field trip on August 21st. They were absent when I visited the lake on November 7th. As of yet, I have never found this species in numbers anywhere else in SLO County.
