Observation notes: Had observed hundreds of these small moths along the shore of the Susquehanna River on 11/11 but did not get quality photos that day to make progress with ID. Returned this morning to find far fewer but still several dozen, a couple of which I caught to take home for better examination. The moths tended to stay fairly low the ground, resting either in grasses, on the sandy shoals at river's edge, or on the trunk of sycamores and other hardwood trees. Temperatures were near 50, with steady winds of about 15 mph gusting to 25, and clear skies.
