Purplish Copper
Lycaena helloides

Observation date: October 19, 2015
Submitted by: COA1955
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It's a new one for our gardens and a very lovely little copper at that. Did not see one that looked like it in our county files so went to state files and the Lustrous Copper appeared to be the same as this one. It has been around for several days and now we have rainy, cool weather for a couple of days. We've had late freezes the past two years and I'm not complaining. Edit: Upon further review it appears it could also be a Purplish Copper and that one is more likely to be found here in northeast CO, so changed my suggested ID. Thank you.
