Observation notes: Catapillar was crawling on shouldar of roadway pavement (NYS, route 56, 2 miles north of Norwood, NY. Pavement was running by a farm cornfield and weedy areas that grow beside the road. Temperature was around 80 F. with high humidity and hazy air conditions. Catapillar was moving toward the main road way (to the right in the photo). The catapillar was extremely large...a good3 inches long and about a 1/2" in width.
