Observation notes: There are about 50 of them showed up over night and are camping out on my front screen door. They are about the size of locust and have not moved in over 14 hours.. My dog even nosed one and he didn't move. We recently had some fuzzy black caterpillars about 1-1/2 inch long but not in these numbers. I have also seen some fuzzy white caterpillars. I'm in the East Mountains (Manzanos just east of Albuqerque), New Mexico- Eastern slopes at about 7,000 feet. Weather is cloudy, cool and windy.
