  Sighting 1059714

Observation date: August 07, 2015
Submitted by: Anne-Marie
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Very fast walking caterpillar. Was on grass, so not sure what it's host plant would be. Searched the internet quite extensively with no answer as to what type of moth/butterfly it will become. When touched, will arch it's back in a defense stance and remain like this for 30 seconds or so. Its body is smooth and a dark grey-brown with orange hairy tufts down each side. Underbelly has orange markings down either side. Near the head, there are 2 eye-shaped markings one on top of the other that are orange and black.
