Observation notes: In Orwell Vermont. Approximately 1 X 1 1/2 inches. Only seen once since I moved here 20 years ago. Surrounding area is mountainous with a mixture of meadows and forests ( conifer and deciduous). Wetlands nearby. The butterfly was on a flower next to the house. It's a very rural area. Sunny weather. 70-80 degrees out. There was only one of these. The butterfly sat still on the flowers, possibly eating. It stayed there for a while. Time to,get to the house and back to photo it.
