Coordinator notes: This is the most likely species; the larva of Sphinx vashti is very similar, but unlikely to be found in your area. I have taken adults of S. vashti in the Grand Traverse region, so it is not impossible.... dou you know if there are any snowberryy bushes in the area? That's the S. vashti hst plant. S. poecila feeds on larch, spirea and blueberry.
