Observation notes: I know last year you mentioned the Edwards has an obvious black border -- some of these seem to have more of a border than others, but I'm guessing none are distinctive/wide enough to be Edwards - so I'm going with Callippe this year, lol.

Coordinator notes: Your tentative ID is correct...a male (bottom one a female?). Can be confused with Edwards' Fritillary but you can compare the two in a book you might have (named before) or compared from BAMONA files. Edwards is a larger butterfly...callippe smaller and duskier above. and the green hindwings are yellowish-green. The callippe in your area and over northwest Colorado is subspecies harmonia. Mike
