Observation notes: Eggs were laid late February on Asclepias fascicularis growing at Ascot Hills Park Native Plant Nursery in northeast Los Angeles. One egg hatched on March 2nd. I used a macro lens to see the caterpillar close up and it appeared to be a 1st instar. On 3/7/26, it molted to 2nd instar. The caterpillar appears to be healthy and is eating well.
