Meadow Fritillary
Boloria bellona

Observation date: June 05, 2025
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This is not the right habitat for Meadow (imo), plus this seemed slightly larger than one of the lesser fritillaries. Dry sagebrush habitat/slopes with scattered aspen and a stream farther away. Which is why I landed on Coronis, as the lower wings (especially edges) to me don't really look like a Mormon. However, Mormon is what was in this habitat/location about a week or two later last year.

Coordinator notes: No...this is another Meadow Fritillary...a female. Must be an early season for these this year and yes, sometimes they turn up in odd places but probably there is a good habitat not far away from where it could have just wandered or got wind-blown from. Mike
