Pacific Fritillary
Boloria epithore

Observation date: July 05, 2022
Submitted by: jrmbutterfly
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Nectaring on Valeriana sp. Cool. Alternating sunny and cloudy. Mature spruce, Subalpine Fir and Lodgepole Pine forest surrounding high elevation wetlands. Probably not harvested yet for that reason. Dorsal markings seem heavier than on other Boloria specimens submitted.
Status: Resident
Verified by: Paul Prappas
Verified date: April 15, 2023
Coordinator notes: I agree that this is a very heavily banded "epithore" but the outward pointing chevrons along the marginal band are right for this species, as is the range.
Checklist region(s): Canada, British Columbia
