Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio glaucus

Observation date: May 21, 2022
Submitted by: NatureDuncan919
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The two-tailed swallowtail was spotted resting on an American Beech tree within 100 yards of a lake. The weather was overcast and 70 degrees.

Coordinator notes: Not easy to be sure if this is P. canadensis or P. glaucus without seeing the underside, but given what I can see I'm pretty certain it's an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (P. glaucus). It definitely isn't P. multicaudata, which isn't found this far east and also has two obvious tails on each wing, for starters.
