Observation notes: Eleven individuals observed flying and alighting on the ground, on live and dead vegetation and on rocks in Pinyon Pine/juniper/Ponderosa Pine woodland along approx. 1.5 miles of trail. Many were basking and some were interacting in flight with another individual of the species. In addition, 24 Mourning Cloaks were counted along this same section of trail.
