Coordinator notes: most of the usual diagnostic marks are on the upperside of the hindwing and thus not visible in this image. but Glassberg (2017, p. 221-222) shows that on the underside, the dark streak of scales that bears the comma has an outer edge (postmedian line) that is smooth on Satyr but irregular on Hoary. I judged your pic to have an irregular postmedian line and called the bug Hoary. There may have been currants and gooseberries on the hillsides, too. thanks for submitting!
