Coordinator notes: This looks a lot like Pyrgus ruralis but it is actually a female Common Checkered skipper. The Two-banded Checkered skipper occurs in the higher mountains and flies from mid-May to the first part of June, a short flight period. It is a very locally found species. Best place to find it is probably in the Red Feathers Lakes area in Larimer County. Mike
