  Sighting 1176187

Observation date: July 21, 2018
Submitted by: A_baldini
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Time: ~10:00 a.m. Weather: Hot, mostly calm, and sunny, with an approaching bank of thunderstorms. Habitat: Flower-rich floor of a sparse montane pine forest. Notes: This was my third find of the day, after a couple Coronis Fritillaries. This is one of the last butterflies I expected to see way up in the mountains, especially before a Painted Lady (which I still haven't seen this year). "Butterflies of Rocky Mountain National Park" lists this species as "rare" throughout the park, which is similar to this campsite in terms of both elevation and habitat.

Coordinator notes: Correct ID Austin. Did you see any of these late in the summer? Virtually no common Painted Ladys this year as you noted before. Mike
