Observation notes: Observed in a muddy/rocky area of the pond where the water of the pond has receded quite a lot. It stayed there for about 7 or 8 minutes, initially opening and closing its wings a lot, then leaving them up for a few minutes. Weather: Approx. 87 degrees, approx. 25% humidity. Size: Approx. 3.5" wingspan, possibly a bit larger---seemed a little larger than other Red-spotted Purples I've seen in the past.
