Coordinator notes: The chrysalis of the Monarch, Danaus plexippus, and Queen, Danaus gilippus, look almost identical. I feel fairly confident this is a Monarch, however, because it appears to be getting near emergence and I see what looks like patterning of the wings. I don't think you would see this on a Queen because it is, overall, a very dark-colored butterfly. If you watch this to emergence, please make a submission that refers back to this sighting no. Thanks.
