Observation date: January 29, 2013

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Not an unusual species here, except for the date. This was the 4th time this month I have seen Papilio glaucus (all were males) and the only photograph I could get. I saw them Jan. 14, 20, 25, and today, all in my garden at or near the pentas. This January has been the warmest since 1974 and no hard freeze has been experienced here this winter, hence pentas, salvia and spanish needle still in bloom. Also saw Papilio troilus (male) on Jan. 25 and several long-tailed skippers (no photos).
