Observation notes: This individual is extremely worn with, apparently, the hindwing at least partially missing; I don't have experience with this species but was told that some of the darker markings on the hindwing and the orange color were distinctive? This was while I was participating in an annual butterfly survey for the Sevilleta NWR

Coordinator notes: that's the correct ID. Missing wings can pose a challenge, but the size, shape and color remain distinctive.
