Observation notes: Seen perching and flying around a Live Oak tree in a steep-walled canyon. It was the only butterfly observed in the area. The temperature was in the high 80's with clear skies. Surprised there wasn't more insect activity in general. There was plenty of Buckwheat and other food plants observed. The pictures are poor due to distance but are clear enough for identification.
