Funereal Duskywing
Erynnis funeralis

Observation date: July 23, 2023
Submitted by: DeepSkyKelly
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I'm really unsure, but am guessing this is a *very* lightly marked--and pretty worn--Funereal. Other than white fringes and tiny white spots on forewing, this individual was very plain. It was fairly large and circled back and forth several times within the same 10 - 20 foot portion of trail...often tangling with a Silver Spotted-Skipper that was also hanging around.

Coordinator notes: it's not a great example, for sure, but the only other realistic option is pacuvius, and this is not that.
